Who Howell is

He was born on November 14, 1990 in Eastbourne, Sussex. He became a Grandmaster young and has been British champion and one of the country’s strongest players. In 2022 he reached his peak of 2698 ELO, brushing against the 2700 barrier.

Player and communicator

Howell combines his competitive career with commentating on events. His clarity and humor have made him one of the most appreciated commentators in modern chess, following in the tradition of Peter Svidler as a player-communicator.
